Introduction
India is our motherland. We are all (Indians) giving respect to this nation like our mother. This sacred land India praised by the poets and the learned men through their works. This lesson has been extracted from late Dr. K.S. Nagarajan’s ‘भारतवैभवम्’. He is famous among the modern Sanskrit poets of Karnataka.

भारतम् अस्माकं जन्मभूमिः । भूमिरियम् अस्माभिः मातेति सगौरवमाद्रियते। पुण्यभूमिरियं विद्वद्वरेण्यैः कविभिः मधुरमञ्जुलशब्दैः वर्णिता अस्ति। देशस्यास्य माहात्म्यवर्णनद्वारा देशभक्तिः प्रकटिता च। अयं पद्यभागः डा।। नागराजन् महोदयस्य ‘भारतवैभवम्’ इति पद्यभागात् उद्धृतः ।

I salute with respect to the sacred land India, the mother of all the living and non-living things, sung by the poets through the musical instruments and served by the kings.
I salute the sacred land India, which is endowed with the truth, who shows enjoyment, who gives salvation, who destroys sorrow, who develops (the) patriotism among the people.
Let the nationalism spread all over the country, which develops self-confidence, generosity, determination, and which is the destroyer of evil and is most ancient.
Indian culture is very ancient. India has different castes. We should feel that all the religions and the whole country is the same. We have different religions and different languages. We have to feel that all the Dharmas and the whole country is the same. We have to feel that ‘We are all Indians’.

मङ्गलाङ्गशोभितां चराचरादिनायिकाम् ।
वल्लकीप्रभूतदिव्यभव्यगानतोषिणी
राजराजपूजितां सदा नमामि मातरम् ।।
2. चित्तशान्तिदायिनी विरक्तिबुद्धिवर्धिनी
भेदभावनाशिनी जनेषु चैक्यकारिणी ।
दुःखशोकहारिणी भवाम्बुधेश्च तारिणी
